• 16th Annual Bedford Old Towne Day

  Date: Saturday, September 11th (rain or shine) Time: 10am – 3pm Place: Riley Field Complex, located at Nashua and County Roads. This fun-filled event will have plenty to do for the entire family with all-day entertainment. “Taste of Bedford” will be held to sample delicious foods from a variety of local restaurants. Visit lots of creative arts & crafts booths and indulge in ice cream sundaes. Participate in one of the many contests, from the frog jumping contest to the bull frog bounce and the new ‘chocolate chip cookie contest’. Delightful fun for all ages and a great day to celebrate Bedford & enjoy the festivities. A great place to take the family!
• The Boston-Portsmouth Air Show ? Happening Aug. 28!

  The Boston-Portsmouth Air Show, to be held August 28 – 29, features a who’s who of aerobatic performers and military demonstration teams ? including the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the Brazilian Air Force Smoke Squadron. Planes will be flying in formation, backwards, tail first, straight down, and in other unbelievable ways when the Air Show hits the skies this weekend, bringing top-tier performers and two days of fun-filled events. The show is brought to the Portsmouth International Airport at Pease by the Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire and Daniel Webster Council of Boy Scouts of America. • Activities in the Upper Connecticut Valley

  See the historical sites; boat, kayak, and camp on the beautiful river; and visit the splendid parks and gardens! The Connecticut River is the largest river in New England, runs from Northern New Hampshire to Long Island Sound, and is home to bald eagle habitats. The river has a long history with local Abenaki Indian settlements, early colonial villages, and acts as a logging byway as well as an agricultural haven for its neighboring fertile lands. Its farming heritage coupled with its unparalleled beauty is what draws people to its scenic recreational activities. A day trip from Boston along Rte 93 to Rte 89 and a perfect drive from either Connecticut or New York up Rte 91, this location is pristine in its natural beauty. Activities are plentiful, from a historical visit to Fort at Number Four in Charlestown, which depicts a stockaded village of pre-revolutionary frontier life with costumed interpreters, to St Gaudens national park (http://sgnhs.org/), which is an artists colony on the grounds and gardens of the famous St Gaudens sculptor’s mansion with picturesque views of Mt Ascutney. Boating and kayaking activities meander along the river valley through farmlands and under the Cornish-Windsor covered bridge, which is the longest active covered bridge in the United States. • 95th Annual Hopkinton State Fair in Contocook, NH

  The 95th Annual Hopkinton State Fair, Sept 2 – Sept 6 in Contoocook, NH. This fair, originally known as the “Contoocook Valley Fair”, used to be a two day event.  In 1980 it became a full five day event!  This fair has become a large, top ranked agricultural exhibit.  There is plenty to do, and a wide variety of entertainment for the entire family. The Midway features a carnival, including rides, livestock, home & garden exhibits, and much more.  Does food even need to be mentioned??  Once you attend this fair, it could very likely become an annual event for you and your family. Directions:  Take I-93 to I-89, get off at exit 7 and follow the signs to the fairgrounds.
• The New Hampshire Fisher Cats Game on 8/19/10

  If you weren’t able to get to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats game on Thursday night, then you missed out on a great time! The weather was near perfect with mostly sunny skies prevailing until the sun went down to make way for cooler temps and a ?peek-a-boo moon? that floated in and out of the few remaining clouds. Despite a loss to the Binghamton Mets, over 200 Verani associates and their families enjoyed food, drinks and camaraderie! It?s been said that actors should never work with kids or animals or they?ll be outshined. That was pretty much the case last night!  Much to the pride of their beaming parents, children of our associates did shine as they took to the field to take part in the singing of the National Anthem. And of course, who could forget man?s best friend?  To the delight of over 7,000 spectators, Ollie, the team?s official ?bat-dog? retrieved the thrown bats after hitters left the plate for the first few innings.  It looked like the beautiful Golden Retriever only asked for a treat and a pat on the head in return for his loyal service!  The night was capped off by a beautiful display of fireworks that left young and old alike in awe as spectacular colors lit up the night sky. Thank you to all who participated in this fun filled event, we hope you had as much fun as we did!
