How to Increase Your Web Traffic From Search Engines

Increasing your website traffic from search engines increases your online income from blog or website. You may notice that having a blog or website is not enough to make money online. You need to have a good traffic from search engines particularly Google, Yahoo, Live (formerly MSN), AOL and Ask.com (formerly AskJeeves) to make big money online.

Money From Search Engine Traffic

Most of blogs and websites begin to make comfortable income from its search engine traffic. In my case, around 80% of my visitors come from search engines like Google, Yahoo and others. Small portion of that traffic click Adsense and other affiliate links. So, the more traffic you get from search engines, the more money you can make from your blog or site.

To increase web site traffic, your blog must appear on the first page of the search engine results page (SERP) or search engine listing. Most of the search engine users click the sites or blogs listed on the first page of the results page. By default, search engines display the Top 10 blogs and sites on the first page of its SERPs.

Search Engine Ranking Criteria

• Indexed by the popular search engines like Google, Yahoo, Live, AOL and Ask.com. Search engines search its database when a search query is entered by the search engine user. A blog or website is included in the database if it is indexed. Small search engines use the database by the above giants search engine sites.
• Relevant to search keywords used by the search engine users. Your page content must be relevant and optimized to the search keywords used by the users. Keyword optimization of your web pages makes it easy for the search engines to find them.
• Original and quality content. To satisfy the search engine users, it is the main objective of the search engines to deliver listing of quality blogs and websites.
• 1-Way Links from authority and popular sites. This is a major criteria of the search engines to verify the importance and the popularity of your blog or website. The more popular blogs or websites linking to your site or blog, the higher rank it will get in the search engine listing.
• Links to authority sites. Search engines use this criteria to validate the references in your blog or website. Linking to authority sites sends message to the search engines that your are promoting quality content.
