This search engine optimization for dummies will teach how to optimize your web site to rank high in organic search engine listing in simple way without the use of algorithmic methods. This will not only help you satisfy the needs of the search engines but also the needs of the search engine users or the web surfers.

Search Engine Optimization For Dummies is divided into 2 parts. You are about to learn in this part how to optimize keywords and how to optimize your page title and meta tags namely: meta keywords and meta description of your web pages.

Optimizing keywords

Optimizing keyword phrase is the most important part of search engine optimization process. Choosing the right keyword phrases for each of your web page is essential. Yes, keyword phrase because keywords are general with very high competition. If you choose the wrong keyword phrases, search engines will not find your web site. If the search engine could not find your web site, nobody could ever see your web site through search engines.

Choose specific keyword phrases for each of your web page. You could rank well if you use specific keyword phrases with less competition rather than general keywords with very high competition. Think of the keyword phrases that people most likely to type in the search engine box when searching for information your web page contains. Research or ask other people for keyword phrases they used when searching. You will use these keyword phrases in the optimization of your page title, meta tags, page description, page keywords, body copy, text links or hyperlinks and image alt tags.

Optimizing page title

The page title is the text that appears on the top of the internet browsers. It is located between <*title> and <*/title> of web page HTML codes (without the asterisk [*]).

You must have a page title in every page of your web site.
Make your page title enticing or intriguing.
Limit your page title up to a maximum of 65 characters, including spaces.
Avoid using special characters like &, # and @.
Include your top 1-2 keywords in the first 3 words of your page title .
Observe proper capitalization in your title, for easy reading. Not all small caps and not all capitalized.
Don't use your keyword twice in the title but you may use another form like singular or plural form and synonyms.

Optimizing meta tags

Meta tags are located between the head tags of your web page HTML codes. They do not appear in the browser page but these meta tags are used by most of the search engines in collecting the important information about your web page.

Optimizing page or meta keywords

Page or Meta keywords are located in <*meta name="keywords" content="keyword phrase 1, keyword phrase 2, etc."> of your web page HTML codes (without the asterisk [*]).

Enter the relevant keyword phrases in the meta content. Refer to the keyword optimization tips above.
Separate keywords or keyword phrases by a comma and one space.
Do not use over 3 "repeats" of the root word.
Enter 1 - 5 keywords or keyword phrases.
Do not exceed 1024 characters including spaces.
Use keyword phrases that you also used in the copy of your page, title tag, meta description, links, alt tags, etc.
Use plural forms of your keyword phrases like "free optimization tip" and "free optimization tips".
Include the common misspelling or different spelling of a popular keywords like "caribean " for "caribbean" and "optimisation" for "optimization".

Optimizing page or meta description

Page or Meta Description are located in <*meta name="description" content="a concise description of your web page that contains your top keyword phrases."> of your web page HTML codes (without the asterisk [*]).

Do not copy your Page Title to the description.
Describe the content of your page concisely and accurately.
Use intruiging, mysterious or revealing words to attract the search engine users to click on your listing.
Include to top 3-4 of keyword phrases that you used in your title tag and page copy.
Make your top keyword phrases appear at the beginning of your description. This will avoid having the search engines cut off your keywords if they cut your description to their limits.
Limit your meta description up to a maximum of 250 characters including spaces.
Use your specific keyword phrase at only once and twice if sounds natural.
Use a maximum of 2 sentences only and put only one space between sentences.
Never use ALL CAPS in your Description. Using ALL CAPS is a sign of an amateur webmaster.
Never use special or non-standard characters like &, # and ".

You see, it is very simple to optimize your web pages with this search engine optimization for dummies. What you have to do now is to apply what you learned. Optimize the keywords, page title and meta tags for keywords and description.
